Recycling at its best - Doggy sweater

Image
Just got through making an adorable doggy sweater made out of an old leopard print sweater. It's been fun getting inspired to recreate clothing. It's amazing what you can come with. A lot of my inspiration comes from Altered Couture and Apron-olgy. If you get the opportunity you should check out these magazines it's amazing the talented artist they feature. My goal would be to total reuse every stitch of a garment to make something else. I think I could write a book of all the ideas I can come up with. I'm going to try and upload a picture of the doggy sweater that my dog is modeling. She is so cute in it. LOL

Apron-ology February 2010

Wow, I got my February 2010 issue of Apron-ology where I have two articles published. This is an awesome magazine. If you get the chance to pick it up look at my articles on pages 17-19 titled, "This to That" and pages 23-23 titled "An Apron or Two". If you do read the articles please let me know what you think of them. It was a lot of fun writing them. They took some awesome pictures of the aprons I made.

Featured in Apron-ology

I am so excited to say that I have been featured in the new, "Arpon-ology" magazine February/March 2009 issue. They featured two of my aprons, one I made from a couple of garage sale finds and the other from a skirt I picked up at a second hand store. You should check it out. Please let me know what you think!

Suduko Quilt

This quilt is a Love quilt for our local quilt club to donate to the different agencies that help out our community. It was a fun and quick pattern that was taught last month at our meeting. I hope it finds a nice home.

What to do with all the jean legs

I have a dilema--I make a lot of jean purses out of old jeans. Well now I have a ton of jean legs. Any suggestions out there? I have made a jean jacket out of some of the left over jean legs but the pattern pieces have to be narrow for the most part to work. (One of my jean jackets will be featured in the Winter issue 2008 of Altered Couture which comes out in November). The instructions will be published with a picture. I also made a hobo handbag that turned out cut the legs have to be wide enough to work for this project. I have cut them into a lot of square so if one day I want to make a quilt. I'm running out of ideas. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Finding inspiration

I have been viewing the forums on www.etsy.com . Since I'm still new to all this and not sure when you can just post some comment or question. I did want to say that I have read many comments and they have been so encouraging and inspiring it has been such a positive experience for me. I hope to get the courage to join in soon! I'm still enjoying all the comments. What an awesome group of artists!!!

How to do it all

I have been thinking all day how I can manage everything I want to do. I started to organize my sewing room and while doing so I found a kids shoe organizer. I decided it would help me organize the stuff I use frequently around my cutting table so I taped it to the table and wow what a difference it makes. Being more organized helps me manage all my stuff. Hope it helps you!
